This Roman Pompeii style Gladius has a blade crafted of high carbon steel; the hilt has a grip of carved bone and its pommel and guard are of wood. The inset guard plate is brass, as is the pommel nut. A felt tab cushions the guard against the scabbard – it can be easily removed if desired.

The wood-core scabbard is overlaid in leather and finished with extensive brass fittings – the decorative plates are on a single side.

The Pompeii Gladius, as produced by Deepeeka, is a reproduction of the iconic Roman short sword named after the city of Pompeii. This gladius is renowned for its historical accuracy and craftsmanship.

 Historical Context:

The Pompeii Gladius was one of the most prevalent sword types used by Roman soldiers from the 1st to the 3rd century AD. Characterized by its parallel cutting edges and triangular tip, it was effective for both thrusting and cutting in close combat.
