The Roman Fulham Gladius has a blade forged from high carbon steel; the blade has a diamond cross section which gradually becomes somewhat flattened and thinner near the tip. The guard and pommel are crafted from hardwood and the grip is carved and polished bone. A thick brass protective guard plate is fitted atop the guard to help prevent the splitting of the wooden guard should it come into contact with the weapon of a foe. The pommel nut is likewise of brass. A removable felt tab at the base of the blade cushions the guard plate from scratching when in contact with the scabbard.
The sword is paired with a wood-core scabbard which has been bound in stitched and brown dyed leather. It is encased within additional brass embellishments and scabbard hanging rings.
